This was the most amazing natural event I have ever experienced. Usually, when lave meets the sea, it oozes out and drips like candle wax. Or it crawls on lava fingers. But when a chink of land breaks off and the main lava tube is exposed, this is what happens:
Let’s back track a little bit…
Here’s the candle wax drippings that are now defunct…I think they’re kind of cool.
Here is the boat we took. If you can climb the ladder, you can go on the ride…
Here’s how close you get. The heat, the sounds, the explosions, in your face… not literally, thankfully…
And here’s the tour information…they’ve been doing this for 30 years…
Lava Ocean Tours, Inc. You meet at Isaac Hale Beach Park in Pohoiki which is a fun drive over the Saddle Road from where we are staying.
Have a great week peeps! Aloha!
This is SO COOL!!! or hot I guess.
