EXPLORING THE MAGICAL AND THE MUNDANE

Dinosaur National Monument

We’re in Park City now. Yesterday, was a whole bunch of rain showers as we travelled from Avon, CO to Dinosaur. Saw some nice lightening, too. It wasn’t cold, so we just did our thing which was driving around and looking at stuff. I’m glad that we didn’t visit the Monument in the summer months. You could tell the place would be an oven. I don’t do oven well.

If you’re fascinated by dinosaurs, 1000 year old petroglyphs and pictographs and river rafting, this place shouldn’t be missed. I’m glad we didn’t. Especially the petro/pictos…maybe I’ve watch too many Ancient Aliens on the History Channel, but some of these pictures here are … other worldly … or perhaps they’re depictions of shamanic journeying? Whatever they are, they fascinate us. Mr. Al and I will go out of our way to find them. This grouping were really special, and you could get up close to them. A hike to the up close, but well worth it.

The campground’s setting was lovely. We chatted with some fellow travelers and chilled. I really wanted to see stars, but Luna is waxing muchly, so we fell asleep to her beauty. A handy tip: if you use your car as a tent, be sure to crack a window or two to help lessen the condensation created from the breath of two sleeping people. No wonder I’m so thirsty. Quite the science experiment…

Picture time (I didn’t post too many of the quarry because I couldn’t capture the immensity. It’s like…Oh. My. Gawd. A quarry of dinosaurs bones. It’s even boggles to think about!)

McKee Springs Petroglyphs. Some are quite large and can be seen from the road. But we climbed just as far to visit with them as the other site.

We're at the Canyons ski resort area. Sat outside and had a really yummy salad and a cosmo cocktail. A far cry from camping by a river. And tonight a comfy bed replaces the comfy car.

Our close friends are hooking up with us tomorrow and we’ll be playing around in Park City. Probably won’t blog much here on out. Perhaps I’ll post the odd photo or two if there’s something I’ve deemed blog-
share-worthy.

Until our next chat, be on the alert for New and Fun

Apparently guys have been fascinated by their ahhh…unique equipment…since time immemorial. These picto-petros are GORGEOUS, and I bet you could feel the energy. And the dinosaurs? Shazam!

< Written on my iPad, which has a mind of its own, and a VERY strange sense of humor!
