Day 1 is all about anticipation. Anticipation and lots of lines. You line up to produce your boarding pass and get checked in. Even before that, you line up to hand over your luggage. After they’ve insured that you are who you say you are and hand you your boarding card, you line up to wait in a group. You wait until your group number is called, then you line up to have your picture taken (so you can buy it for an astronomical fee that you don’t care about because, you know, it’s a picture of you on a trip and you take it home and never look at it again). Finally you are allowed onto your ship. You line up for the elevator. You find your room. We had a mini-suite which means two tvs, a bathtub, a veranda and a free glass of champagne when you arrive on board (Al doesn’t drink champagne so I got two–weeeeee!) THEN, while waiting for your luggage to catch up with you, you prowl around the ship. Others go to the luncheon buffet on the Lido Deck (14), but Al and I enjoy checking out our new habitat, finding a slice of pizza along the way. The boat sets sail, and out you go, into the open ocean as you anticipate the hours of relaxation and de-stressing.
Pictures:
What are these? They were huge! The monkey was really creepy, but then we saw the pink glitter pig. Accckkkkk! They were in the warehouse where we assembled before we got onto our ship, the Star Princess….yes, an actual Love Boat! And, they were large. They were taller than me. You can’t really tell in the pic because I’m looking down on them.
Anticipation. As you can see, we were Group 5
Here we go! Onto the Ship!!!!
Our cozy little mini-suite. It was only neat and tidy this once. As soon as our luggage arrived and we unpacked, it developed quickly into a lived-in look.
Eating so soon????????????????
Sailing away under the stars and the Golden Gate Bridge……Next port of call: Hilo, Hawaii. I love this picture of San Francisco. Such a beautiful city.
Sweet suite! And you and Al look terrific. Eagerly awaiting the next installments … Especially the whales and turtles.
< Written on my iPad, which has a mind of its own, and a VERY strange sense of humor!
