Where have you heard that one before? I think that saying was passed down to me by my mother, but it’s been floating around within the Collective Unconscious for who knows how long?
I wonder if the God of Genesis said that after each day during His Creation Project? Maybe He was planning to create the whole deal on the first day, right after “Let there be light.” But there just wasn’t enough time in the day. So God created night so that He could get busy on His great remodel the next day. But wait! This wasn’t a remodel. This was a model! This was creation. The Creation.
I’m not God (although many religions say that I am a spark thereof), nor would I try to compete with the Almighty. And if there wasn’t enough time in the day for Him, well then, it’s okay if there isn’t enough time for me. I’ve got tomorrow. And the day after that. In fact, until I’m dead, I’ve got all of my tomorrow to take today’s spillovers.
(Note to self…best not to ramble too much without being fully awake.)
This whole reflection began as I was sitting here on my comfy sofa hosting both a cat and my laptop on my lap, watching the dawn, and thinking about what I was going to do today.
Which made me think about what I had accomplished yesterday. I did a lot, but I could have done more. I ran out of time. There’s just not enough time in the day, it seems. Even when we multi-task.
So today is a spill-over day. My goal is to finish the rough draft of my novel before we leave on our trip. Then, when I come home, I’ll be ready to dig into it.
My Big Summer Project.
Already, I can see that it’s going to require lots of re-writing. But I can’t rewrite something that hasn’t been written, so I best get cracking. I love that, by the way….Best Get Crackin’. That one came from my dad, but it’s also been floating around in the Collective Unconscious for sometime now.
I wonder how it started? Crack the whip to start up the horses? I don’t know, but now I’m curious.
Anyone have some spare time to find out?
