The car is packed and waiting for our adventure. Good thing we’re NOT backpacking. We’d need a couple of pack mules to carry our creature comforts.
I just checked the weather forecast. Today there is a 30% chance of thundershowers. Not big. However, it’s supposed to go down to 32 tonight. I’m so glad that I’m packing my LLBean fleece jacket. It’s ancient and bulky and the style isn’t even made anymore. But it keeps me warm. As will my mittens and my hat and the down throw I can drape over my legs. See what I mean about needing a pack mule? We’ve also packed a little tent heater and plenty of propane.
Our tent is a two-room REI model. We set it up inside our yurt to see how it works. It’s definitely a 2-person job. Rather awkward. But when you’re done, there’s a lovely drapey- filmy divider made out of ripstop nylon as a room partition. We got the two rooms for when we take the dogs. However, I think we’ll be glad we’ve got it for just the two of us. One side of the tent can be for the sleeping bag and the other for our gear. No need to worry about rain this way.
Speaking of rain, the next two days are to be cloudless and warm….up to the high 70’s. Still chilly at night, but not freezing. Should have a great view of the eclipse. I need to google the time, but I doubt we’ll miss it. The sky will get all funny, I”m thinkin.
Stay tuned for some updates if my iPad gets reception. Otherwise, I’ll have a nice travelog to post on Tuesday.
Stay happy, peeps!
