I’ve been re-reading Charles de Lint. Right now, I’m reading Moonheart. (Goodreads says I’m reading something else, but that’s only because I haven’t figured out how that works when you change your mind and don’t want to read your current read.) Moonheart holds up beautifully, despite the fact the characters listen to records and cassettes. It’s the words that keep me coming back. The way de Lint puts a story together claims me from the get go. He’s one of the only authors that I will read anything he writes. Love his quirky characters. Love the mix of myths he plays with. He writes with heart.
And I get crazy dreams at night. No kidding. Really fun adventure dreams. Because de Lint fires up my imagination so well, I’m primed for it when I go to sleep.
Lately I’ve also been writing, or doing my best to claim the reader with my words. Past couple of weeks have been hard to find that chunk of time I need and I’m feeling nervous. Adding an additional book a year is adding pressure to this one. It’s become a full time job. Which isn’t a bad thing at all, but calls for buckets of self-discipline. And saying “no” to spontaneous adventuring. Fortunately, Mr. Al is busy, too, with his latest creative project which I’ll talk about when he allows me to post some pictures of his creations. We decided that our not-so-spontaneous-adventuring will be Wednesday, for a mid-week break.
The rest of the time is for working…which sounds great in theory but there are lots of snafus involved. Dogs need walking, cats need petting, bills need paying, taxes are due. You know…life. But we manage without too many face plants.
I leave you with a little comic strip about an author (me) trying to find the perfect clothes in which to write. I know. Deep….but if you want deep, you’re gonna have to wait until I’m more awake. It is important, though….you gotta be comfy and relaxed so the words can flow, but not so relaxed you look like a scuzzball if you have to leave your domain. (Scuzzball…that’d give you a lot of Scrabble points.)

Have a great week, Peeps!!
Now THAT’S top-notch wardrobe planning!
Thank you very much!
