I’m heading off to Ashland, Oregon tomorrow where I’ll be hooking up with two of my high school buddies for a mini-reunion. Ashland’s a cool town, funky and artistic. It’s the home of the Shakespeare Festival. Plays, plays and more plays. My two girls friends and I are planning on seeing one. I will no doubt share all of this with you, so stay tuned.
Aren’t we funny creatures of habit, now, we humans? I’m so excited to be with my two friends again I can hardly keep still. But, where’s Mr. Al? Mr. Al will remain at home with our critters. I’m so used to traveling with him that when I pull out of the drive tomorrow morning, I know I’m going to feel like something’s missing and there will be one of those little holes in my heart when I realize that it’s Mr. Al who will not be accompanying me on this particular adventure.
But that’s me. I am very much a pod person, a pack person. I like sharing (duh…I write a blog) and things aren’t always as magical to me if I can’t experience them with others. Like I said, it’s me. Ten years ago (Gadzooks! I can’t believe it’s been 10 years) I did a three week solo trip to Scotland—rented a car and travelled around, stopping at bed and breakfasts when I was tired of driving. It was very brave of me, if I don’t say so myself, and I had awesome, personal experiences as I put some pressure on my comfort zone. Met some cool peeps, too. Too bad I wasn’t blogging then.
And Ashland is what? A four hour drive? And then I’ll be with my friends? Cammy, grow some female gonads or whatever the equivalent of balls are, will ya?
I will….I’ll have that pang when I start my trip, but then when I fill up the tank with gas and order my white chocolate mocha, turn on my music, set the GPS to Ashland, I’ll be fine. And what a beautiful drive I’m going to have through the redwoods.
I love driving my car. It’s got an oil change and the tires are balanced so, as soon as it’s got some gas in it’s belly, it’s going to be ready to roll too.
We Are Good To Go!
And I’ll even be able to sing off-key at the top of my lungs without annoying anybody…
Until our next chat,
Before I sign off, I’ve spent the week, besides writing, putting faces to the characters in Sky Dancers. I can’t wait to show them to you….after I go play… Cheers, Peeps!
