Topic: Internet Marketing
I’ve been thinking a great deal about internet marketing. I cherish my privacy. I am annoyed with the junk that comes bursting into my email inbox. It reminds me of hundreds of little fishing hooks trying to catch a big fat fish….me. After I’m caught, then what? A fish fry?
But if you have a product, how do you get it out there?
There is a man whom I really respect. I’ve been taking metaphysical online courses from him for about a year and a half. These courses allow you have the freedom of as much or as little interaction with him as you like (depending on how you learn) and you can go at your own pace.
This man also sends out newsletters to which you subscribe. The other day, he sent one out about a business opportunity. He was quite enthusiast about it. It involved internet marketing. The funny thing is, I am really not sure what the product is!!! I think it’s about getting people to sign up and pay money and learn how to internet market. You get the money of the people you sign up. It’s very weird….like the Emperor’s New Clothes.
But what is more disconcerting is how much this man is pushing this non-product, altho it won’t be stopping me from finishing up his course.
And perhaps it’s not a non-product, but one of those marketing strategies that get you all worked up first by showing you all the too-good-to-be-true “facts” before they present the package. I may sound jaded because I am. I bought a Timeshare and regret it. I thought I did my research, but I was still taken in. Sigh. Live and learn. I am currently trying to cut my losses. I know that Timeshares work for some people, but they aren’t working for us. Why isn’t there a Timeshare for a cruise ship? Hmmmmm. Maybe there is. I’ll have to check that out.
Okay, I digressed with that little confession. Let’s get back on topic, shall we?
I am learning so much from this course. Not only about its subject, Being In Truth, but the fringe benefits of his presentation style. I really like it. It would be fun to create. He uses slide presentations, videos, conference calls, social networks and you go at your own pace, fitting it into your lifestyle. He also reaches a lot of people… more people than if one were to create workshops and travel around.
One of my many hats that I wear is a certified professional life coach. The way my world has turned out prevents me from developing my client base. In fact, last year, I did not take on any new clients and have worked through the last of my clients. (A life coach does not keep clients for life, in case you were wondering. )
There are many reasons I am not coaching, one of them being devoting more time to my writing and painting and playing. But it does not mean that that part of me…the part that loves supporting people grow and flourish…is not still yearning for fulfillment.
A couple of weeks ago, I went to sleep and woke up with a whole online course in my head! Isn’t that exciting?? I am having so much fun putting it together. It won’t be as high tech as the metaphysical course I am taking, but the features that I like so much will be there: interact with me as much or as little and go at your own pace. Plus, it will reach a lot more people than I can…. AND (ta-da!) will give me the time I want to write and paint and play.
Which brings me to internet marketing. I still think word-of-mouth is the best way. I think I will start small by advertising locally when the time comes, perhaps sending an email to my friends who may know people who could benefit from my course.
In the meantime, I am having a blast creating something that I believe will help a lot of people on their path to self-discovery.
And I hope that you, dear reader, will have a blast doing whatever you are inspired to do.
