Hello, there! How’s your coffee this morning? Did someone bring it to you in honor of Mother’s Day? Now worries…me neither. I usually wake up long before my night-owl-of-a-son awakens.
From me to you….
Whether in the here or the hereafter, it’s nice to remember our Moms, even if they do have their “Mommy Dearest” moments.
I need a vacation! Boy do I ever. It’s been cray-cray in my world, but I won’t bore you with the details.
Luckily for me, a vacation is on the horizon. Huzzah!!! A road trip to Colorado and back, with weeklong stops in Colorado and Utah. Of course, you’ll be cordially invited to tag along with me as I focus on the travelogue aspect of these chronicles. I like sharing my adventures with you.
Although I’d rather be the one travelogue-ing, I enjoy reading others’ travelogues. Here’s one blog I follow written by a British bike cyclist, http://frankburns.wordpress.com He raises money for charities and describes his adventures as he pedals along in different countries.
But, before my road trip happens, The PeaceKeeper Corps must be readied to meet it’s May 24th publication date.
And that’s where that word comes in.
You see, I just got my book proofed by my ever-lovin’ proofreaders who are so wonderful and appreciated by yours truly. It was brought to my attention I had a THAT infestation. In fact, I used THAT nearly 1500 times in my novel. Way too many according to “those in the know.” I was very embarrassed, like I had a case of head lice…
or something worse.
So, I spent a day going on a That Safari, searching for, changing or deleting THAT word wherever appropriate. It gave me a new respect for the word. When used appropriately, it packs a punch.
The funny thing is how invisible THAT is. When used inappropriately, the eye just skims over it. Isn’t that amazing?
I experimented with that. I took a page and tried to find all the THATs on that page. Then, I went back and did a Word Search for THAT. Many had been skimmed over by Moi like they weren’t even there.
That invisible word.
It’s in this blog 15 times, although I was talking about that. Oops, now, 16 times.
Have a great week, peeps!
(and now, 17 times)
Head lice. LOL!!!
