Today was a most splendid and excellent day…
We fist walked through the Farmer’s Market to get some breakfast and pick up some things for dinner…
Then, we strolled down to the Lower Village to buy our tickets for the Peak to Peak experience. We did this last year when we were visiting Whistler, but it’s really worth repeating. I love being up in the mountains. The Peak to Peak is a gondola ride…primarily as a means for skiers to experience both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains in one day. But in the summer, it’s a great sightseeing adventure. You start by taking a gondola up Whistler Mountain with the bikers, hikers and tourists.
At the top, you get out and enjoy the beauty, hike around or enjoy the restaurant. There are several hiking trails and we were handed a pack of maps. Unfortunately the trails were closed due to the early snow. The snow was melting today and it was delightfully warm. Tomorrow may be a different story, however. One never knows…but we don’t really care about tomorrow when it’s all about today, right?
Like I said, today was beautiful…here are some pictures for your enjoyment:
On the Peak to Peak…it’s about 3 miles across to Blackcomb and takes about 11 minutes.
We get pretty high up…
Heading back down to Lower Village
A group of brave bikers starting their ride down
Bikes were to be seen everywhere today…
If we were younger, we’d join them….if the weather holds, perhaps we’ll rent some basic get-around-towners and take another bike ride later this week…
Oh, gorgeous! Since most of your pix were straight out rather than looking down, I didn’t have to cover my eyes and could enjoy the beauty to my heart’s content!
