I’m procrastinating this morning. Or am I just warming up and waking up before working on my novel? (Yes, I did manage to finish the first draft before our canoe adventure.)
Whatever you want to call it, I’ve a mind to talk about creativity and shooting oneself in one’s foot.
Why is it that we compare ourselves to others and give up because we’ve decided that we don’t measure up?
I used to do that. In fact, once upon a time, after having been battered about by a series of disappointments, I decided that if I never tried, I’d never fail. Pffffttttt! I speeeeet upon the thought! I speeeeet again! Spittle is flying. Silly girl! Never try, never fail….where’s the fun in that? Geez!
I hadn’t realized that if something gives us joy, then enjoy whatever it is that is giving us that joy.
It’s better to be happy even if all your soufflés fall flat, than to compare yourself, convict yourself and incarcerate yourself in a state of wishful yearning.
So, what do you love to do? Just do it. Let the spittle fly!
