Next week is Thanksgiving. My goal was to get my ebook underway by then. Not going to happen. I’ve a portrait of a dove I must begin. I’ve a painting I want to wrap up. I’ve more desk top angels to produce. I love to paint so this is not a hardship by any means.
I’m taking a picture after each session with my current painting. When I’m complete, I’ll have a visual diary of the growth of a painting. Unless, I don’t like my finished result. Then it’s a a visual diary of the rise and fall of a painting.
I’m working on a cotton canvas that I’d painted on before and then painted over because I wasn’t happy with the first painting and why let a good canvas go to waste if it can be reused? I’m not too keen on the surface. I’ve been using linen for several years and it’s spoiled me rotten. Linen is so wonderful to work with, so sensual. Perhaps its the small weave, but I feel I’ve so much more control. Even with portrait grade canvas I don’t get the same results. There is one problem with linen, however. It absorbs moisture. I can unwrap a canvas and it will be as tight as a drum head. The next day, it will be a flaccid mess. They’ve got a spray for that…to retighten. It works.
The day isn’t getting any younger. (I’ve always loved that saying.) I’ve got my warm cozies on. It’s rainy and cold today. I’ve got my tea and my iPod. My palette’s all booted up from yesterday, so I can just plug into the Pod and begin…..
Be seeing you.
This whole year, I’ve been focusing on really pushing myself with my paintings…working beyond where I would normally have stopped and signed my name. It’s been interesting to see what I’ve done.
