EXPLORING THE MAGICAL AND THE MUNDANE

One more sleep before home

You know it’s time to get back home when you start dreaming about your fur family.

Yesterday felt like a very long day on the road, with Mr. Al taking the lion’s share. The I-15 corridor between Orem, Utah up to where it splits with I-84 is killer….Traffic is crazy. Driving the the speed limit is hazardous as people go way over said limit. The concrete is old, expansion joints and tire groves forcing you to wrestle with steering. All the mellows we gained from our day in Park City vanished. And it was my bad.

I had tried to plot a course where we would skirt most of the “ horror-dor” (our name for the I-15 corridor,) but Siri and I had a miss communication and…well…there we were.

The Golden Spike lives in the Smithsonian now.

We swapped driving after visiting the Golden Spike National Historical Park, which was very interesting and out in the middle of nowhere, yet extremely close to where Northrup makes and tests all its rockets. That was interesting to drive by…trying to figure out exactly what was going on. It is acres and acres of dirt roads interspersed with cement buildings of various sizes. Also saw a very large solar array being built, which is fascinating to me because I have written articles about putting up solar arrays but have never seen one actually being built. The middle of nowhere was quite active.

We swapped back and Mr. Al brought us to our lodging during Boise’s rush hour. We seem to be rush hour magnets.

Anyway…from here we take a shorter drive up to Kennewick. I think I will take first shift.

I leave you with some beautiful pictures of our rest day in Park City, where we moseyed, had a delightful brunch, and enjoyed window shopping.

Time to hit the road…
