Four miles out of town along Potash Road is a wall of rock with hundreds of petroglyphs. The more you looked, the more you see. Easy to find where to pull over as it is marked and no hiking is necessary. Just lots of looking.

Yesterday was a wonderful day at Arches National Park. The weather was dramatic ranging from a thunderstorm to sunshine and the light brought out all the colors…dark blues, muted purples, greens, greys, and the beautiful rust read rocks. I am looking forward to capturing some of these colors at the easel when I get home. There was one color, it was a bright green…like the sea green Crayola Crayon…that was so beautiful contrasting with the red stone and the dark skys. The color actually was a layer of rock formed back in the Jurassic period when the area was covered in tropical swampyness.
We stopped at an overlook with picnic tables and had a picnic lunch we had brought. Such a perfect setting. I really needed a day like yesterday. All that beauty filled me up and calmed me down.
Pictures for you from our splendid day…

Today, we are heading south to see what we can find.
