Tent day…notice view is not as sunny as previous day’s view
Cooking dinner in the rain…we had stuffed all our gear under the back vestibule which could be accessed through the back of the tent.
Somewhere in these groups of trees are the two baby bears. This is when the battery ran out and I couldn’t zoom in. Note water droplet on lens. Yes, it was also the day I’d dropped the camera in the lake.
Where we put out at Smiling Otter. Slocan Lake turns into the Slocan River by this point. We paddled under a bridge, talked and waved to hardy Canadians as they fished or strolled. Had our picture taken by a polite young lady who asked first. Battled against a swollen river and arrived….just as the flood gates opened up. Four hours later, we were in Spokane where it was sunny and dry. We were able to hang our wet tent and tarps. The steak dinner my family prepared was divine. The hot shower was bliss! Although we took sponge baths and one semi-warm shower (using our portable shower bag heated by the sun), there’s nothing like feeling 100% clean.
